in less affluent societies uh in the developing world particularly um people live in more they have a more communal existence because they need each other so if you go to a you know a village in africa or in asia or wherever it may be people are interdependent on one another because they don't have their own like little house in the suburbs in the american suburbs the way i grew up um and that social proximity is a is a buffer for psychological struggles and so suicide is lower in those communities depression rates are lower anxiety is lower
