Look, people don't just eat because they're hungry.
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.

Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
So the whole point to that is, on the list of reasons why people eat, I mean, I've gotten to the point where I think that hunger is actually not even the main reason people eat. Stress, lack of sleep--
well people confuse hunger and appetite a lot so there's a here here's the other big thing is people say well you don't get as hungry on the ketogenic diet or you don't get as hungry on the plant a plant-based diet you don't get as hungry on XYZ I say that's true but there's a lot more reasons people eat other than hunger in fact I would argue that some of the major reasons people eat has nothing to do with physical hunger that it's actually societal cues um stress various other things
I do think you tend to see um especially today um people eat for emotional reasons right there was a study that I had in the comfort crisis that uh suggested that 80% of eating today is driven by reasons other than true hunger
