it looks like there's plenty of evidence to suggest that humans don't need to make a whole bunch of butyrate both because in ketosis you can use beta-hydroxybutyrate from the circulation directly and that the other uh short-chain fatty acids can serve as an intermediary fuel or as a an alternate fuel and might even be higher octane because they have the same effects in the gut that triggering all the same receptors
