the roots stems and leaves of plants especially the end of the seeds too are full of all these anti nutrients and toxins
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.
the roots stems and leaves of plants especially the end of the seeds too are full of all these anti nutrients and toxins
Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.
Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
they're gonna put they're gonna put all sorts of defense mechanisms everywhere in that plant except the fruits okay so we can talk about of that but in the roots the stems believes and and the seeds of a plant you are gonna put toxins
like you mentioned in the roots in the seeds in the leaves I mean just there it's like you know the seeds are full of sappin uns lectins phytates the the leaves are full of oxalates a lot of the roots are full of oxalates
I think of the the roots and the tubers and the berries has certainly less toxic less toxic plants than things like many of the seeds and many of the leaves
it's really only one part of a plan that it wants to get eaten at certain times the year and that's the fruit the rest of the plan the roots seeds the leaves no doesn't plans doesn't want anything eating that
i think of the roots stems leaves and seeds which include seeds grains nuts and legumes as the most toxic parts of plants
plants exist on a toxicity spectrum you do not need roots stems leaves and seeds in your diet
so you think about the leaves stems seeds and roots of plants being highly defended whereas most of the time not all the time but most of the time plants want animals to consume their fruit and so it's less toxic
i consider fruit to be less toxic than seeds nuts grains legumes stems and leaves
and that's how i designed this infographic it's meant to be a hierarchy of the most and least toxic plant foods based on that
all of those are highly defended those are all much more toxic parts of plants in my opinion is the fruit or the flowers that are much less full in general of plant toxins
plants make defense chemicals and that is what i have talked about so many times in my work many in the nutrition space believe for some reason that these defense chemicals are good for humans but i think we need to take a different perspective and make sure that they are not bad for humans because though we can attribute some physiologic benefits or i should say physiologic effects of these plant chemicals in our bodies these supposed defense chemicals what we must always do is weigh the risks and the benefits and i think that case after case after case will show us that the risks outweigh the benefits and these plant chemicals are net negative which is why i don't believe you need plant defense chemicals why i don't believe these quote phytonutrients are even a nutrient at all they're just defense chemicals and they are concentrated in the parts of the plant that the plant does not want you to eat the leaves the stems the roots and the seeds
These are going to mess up your digestion and your hormones generally make you feel horrible and they're going to make you fart a lot too.
I believe that's the least toxic plant food because it wants to get eaten. Plants don't want you to eat leaves and stems and roots and seeds, they're full of defense chemicals.
