What they're doing, is they're essentially surveying what qualities of food are there. And these particular neurons that Diego and his group discovered, send electrical signals up into the brain through a little passage that we call the nodose ganglion. The nodose ganglion is a cluster of neurons that then send up their own process into the brain, and trigger the release of dopamine, which is a molecule that inspires motivation, reward, and more seeking for whatever it is led to their activation.
