celery is full of furano cumerans which is a group of compounds that can accumulate in the skin either by direct directly puncturing your skin if you are picking the celery there's something called celery pickers skin where you get photodermatitis phytophotodermatitis more accurately from picking celery because these fiorano cumerans accumulate in your skin or they accumulate in your epidermis if you eat them you can get them both ways you can get them from inside and from outside and when they accumulate in your epidermis they appear to cross-link with dna when exposed to uv light creating inflammation and potentially pre-cancer
