in the 90s they changed the genetics of the pigs to make them super lean and what that did was it the pigs uh they just did it through like natural selection picking the leanest pig generation after generation but later when they analyzed it they realized that what they had done was they had down regulated all of the genes that the pigs used to do de novo lipogenesis which means the pigs could no longer make their own fat which means the only fat that they could get was from their diet and the only fat in their diet is corn oil
