an iron deficiency on animal based diet because you have lots of heme iron which is a very good thing as i've said in the past and i believe i talked about this on a podcast a couple weeks ago if i didn't i will reiterate it here i do not worry about iron overload occasionally people do get hemochromatosis you would know if you had a genetic defect or a genetic polymorphism or you should check your iron saturation should be low it should not be above 50 it probably should be anything near 50 check your ferritin but generally speaking on animal-based diets we do not see elevated levels of ggt gamma glutamine transferase we do not see elevated levels of oxidative stress which might accompany any resulting oxidative stress from excess iron
