The reasons are clear: more obesity, less walking & other physical activity, heat (& maybe RFs) from cell phones & fatter legs.
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.

Aromatase is made by several sources in the body. One of the main sources is body fat.
but obesity I think is also sort of a convincing explanation is we're more sedentary um you know we get bigger that's one of the places that testosterone can decline I think there's different sort of explanations for that um you know as testosterone produced it's aromatized in U peripheral tissue you know in fat tissue fat has a lot of this aromatase so that converts testosterone to estrogen so it necessarily you know lowers the testosterone level that's circulating in our body um also just insulating the the testicles our thighs get bigger insulating the testes can also sometimes lower the efficiency of production a little bit too because of heat effects because of heat effects
most of the estrogen and Men is from the aromatization of their androgens their testosterone into estrogen so if you have a man that's obese and he aromatize 'as a lot of his testosterone into estrogen because our fat cells increase aroma taste activity that's where men can get gyno mass gynecomastia and breast development
what I mean is your testosterone goes into a fat cell and estrogen comes out you have enzymes called aromatase enzymes that take that testost from your bloodstream and the more body fat you have the more they are reducing your testosterone because they're converting it to estradi
one of the things probably would have to do with just the increase in obesity because obesity obviously implies more adipose tissue adipose tissue is where we're going to see more of the enzyme called aromatase that turns testosterone into estrogen and so if you have more adipose tissue and potentially more aroma taste you will undergo that chemical reaction more of turning the testosterone into estrogen
and therefore the more adipose tissue you have typically the more aromatase you have so a person who's overweight is going to make more estradiol all things equal from a given amount of testosterone than a person who is lean
And this is where a lot of people who neglect lifestyle and diet don't realize all of the backhanded consequences of being too obese or something like that you could have for example aromatase strongly expressed in adapost issue so if you are too obese and this is problematic especially in adolescence
if you have a disproportionate amount of aromatase expression because of how much you know how fat you are essentially, you could otherwise be producing more estrogen than you would have if you were lean telling your brain kind of in a indirect way that hey we have enough estrogen so don't make more testosterone because because I use testosterone to make estrogen
Being obese, like the worst one probably that I probably should have mentioned first, but is like so dramatically impactful on your uh negative feedback to the hypothalammic pituitary axis. So, by that I mean men who are obese and women, if you have uh a significant amount of fat, it is going to elevate your aromatization, which is, you know, your conversion of testosterone to estrogen.
And the estrogen is a very potent mediator of telling your brain we're good. And if you have a significantly elevated amount of estrogen being converted from your testosterone that you make because of how much fat you have, you are basically achieving the proportional increase in estrogen that is much higher than the amount of testosterone substrate that led to that conversion.
