the challenge with leptin is that individuals who are obese um do not have low levels of leptin for the most part they actually have high levels of leptin and so what they have is a state of leptin resistance so it's analogous to someone who has type two diabetes it's not because they lack insulin it's because they actually have over time a high level of insulin and so Target tissues stop responding to insulin and the thought is that it's the same way in obesity and leptin
