we think and what we call the omega-3 index which is EPA plus DHA in red cell membranes our target is 8 to 12 percent just that's a range we think is the healthy range
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.
Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
The data suggests an omega-3 index of 8% or higher is best
Why you want your omega-3 index in the 8% range
It's probably best to try to keep an omega-3 index value >= 8%
It's probably best to try to keep an omega-3 index value >= 8%
An omega-3 of 8% or higher is associated with best health outcomes.
How robust of an effect if the omega-3 index was increased by 4-5%?
Previous studies suggest that increasing your omega-3 index from the lowest level of 3.5% to the optimal 8% requires around 1600 to 2000 mg of DHA+EPA daily, depending on absorption rates.
The most accurate approach to tailor your omega-3 intake is to get an omega-3 index test, with 8% being the benchmark for optimal health benefits.
we at omega quant we kind of say our target level is eight or eight to 12. and it's not because above 12 is bad it's because we just have so little data to know to to to say that if you get to 14 you're better than you're at 12 or even to say that you're 12 you're better than 10. we don't really know that it's just a reasonable target level
four percent we like to say be over eight percent that's the goal that's been our target
so we felt uh that our original 2004 idea that eight percent would be the target which was based on much less data back then um has been vindicated it continues to be vindicated
And there's a lot of longevity reasons, you know cardiovascular health, inflammation, why getting up to a higher omega-3 index would be ideal.
The omega-3 index test, you want to be at that 8% range.
