followed for about two to two-and-a-half years you would expect that if LDL was the culprit you would abolish coronary artery disease and cardiovascular death from the face of earth in this population but what happened was that there was no reduction in death in fact the number of deaths in the treatment group that had low LDL was a little high there was a slight reduction in the rate of myocardial infarction and the benefit was so ridiculous that you would have to treat 200 patients for two years to reduce one myocardial infarction
