ketamine is what's called an nmda receptor blocker now when I say blocker I'm not getting into the details of what specific form of blocker it is but I do want to mention that a blocker is sometimes referred to as an antagonist whereas something that promotes the activity of a receptor is called an Agonist okay so if you can just remember that ketamine is an nmda receptor antagonist or blocker then you should be fine for the rest of today's conversation
