the other thing that the methamphetamine component of MDMA does just like methamphetamine is that it actually gets into what we call the presynaptic neuron the neuron that releases the dopamine and it interferes with the repackaging of dopamine into those vesicles now you might think oh it interferes with the repackaging of dopamine into vesicles and therefore less will be released but actually what happens is as a consequence of that a bunch of dopamine builds up in the presynaptic neuron so that when an electrical impulse comes down that neuron and dopamine is released a huge amount of dopamine is released
