only seven years later when I had a really really bad Dental issue would I ever touch another Percocet in my life which of course is a fraction of the drug right and I remember being really worried like what's going to happen is this going to escalate into massive use and fortunately it didn't you know I needed Percocet for like a week until I had a tooth extracted and then I I just stopped it and that was fine
I proceeded to spend the next two weeks in hell um but this is the point of the story it's not it's nothing that I said so far the point of the story is I'm no more inclined to struggle with an opioid than any other person for reasons I don't understand in other words after that experience I was quite afraid of opioids and I assumed I was addicted but maybe 10 years later when I had a really bad tooth condition and nothing was touching the pain I finally succumbed and took Percocet and then after after two days when the tooth was addressed I stopped taking the peret and there was no issue and I came to conclude I I I concluded from that experience that this was not a willpower thing that allowed me to quit this was just a a luck thing there's something physiologically about me that was not becoming addicted to that substance um and that's why I was able to stop cold turkey in other words there I wasn't morally superior to the opioid add I was lucky um and my question is why what explains this difference because there are clearly areas like work where I'm not so lucky um and and and where the addiction is indeed real and where the struggle is daily
