Probiotics and prebiotics, both of which can enhance microbiotal diversity, can improve mood, digestion, immune system, and so on. That's been established but it's mainly been established in the context of post-antibiotic treatment or people that are recovering from illness or people that have been very stressed or have been dealing with all sorts of challenges, mental or physical, and they are an attempt to replenish the gut microbiome.
