the main short chain fatty acid that people think about is butyrate but there's also propria Nate eisah butyrate Valerie ate acetate and you can make all of those from protein just fine
The headline is broadly defensible, but the qualifications matter. Effect sizes vary by population, the strongest claims rest on shorter trials, and credible voices push back on how it's typically framed.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.
Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
if you eat a more protein rich diet that doesn't have as much fiber you're going to be getting protein fermentation into isobutyrate and isobutyrate can fulfill a lot of the functions of butyrate in the gut in terms of signaling
as i heard you talk about it in ancestral health symposium there are some good papers showing that isobutyrate can trigger the same receptors as butyrate as you hinted at in your discussion there butyrate does more than just fuel the colonic epithelial cells it touches receptors it has a singling role and guess what isobutyrate can do the same thing sometimes even more efficaciously
