This work, done by my lab in collaboration with Spiegel Lab (both @StanfordMed) found that the protocol can be done any time of day for round the clock benefits, and of course is zero cost.
typically, just one or two, maybe three physiological sighs are sufficient to bring your level of stress and alertness down very fast and allow you to feel more calm.
one physiological sigh is a very efficient way to adjust that ratio of sympathetic to parasympathetic activation and immediately bring about calm. So it's excellent for real-time control of stress.
