Oral health can be assessed by measuring pocket depth (1-3mm is good), gum attachment firmness, plaque index, and gum bleeding tendency.

“we want to look at pocket depth which is you take from the top of the gum to the bottom of the pocket and you want to see how deep that is if it's 1 to 3 mm you're in good shape if it's four or five it needs some work the second is attachment where you want to see the firmness around the tooth third is you want to see plaque index the the hardened plaque around the tooth and you also want to measure meure how easy or hard it is for your gums to bleed”

“so the measure the way to measure oral health is you two of the the variables you're looking at is attachment loss and um what's the other one uh attachment loss and a pocket depth and so you're basically looking at the gums tightness around the tooth and so two things one is as a child I think I had so much sugar in my diet that that must not have been good for my oral health you can say it Definitely not. It was not a good situation for my mom. Not definitely not. Yeah. And then two is in my years of chronic depression and babies and all that kind of stuff, I started grinding at night having bxism and I didn't take any corrective measures because I didn't know how to do it. So we did we measured all the pocket depths and all the attachment loss. We got scores across the board from uh either one to a four. You want to be basically be two or less.”
