so cgms are one of my tools that I think are so crucial
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.
so cgms are one of my tools that I think are so crucial
Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.
Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
the hugest most gigantic fan of cgms I've never seen any tool that I've ever used in medicine change Behavior the way that cgms do
that does not have the same kind of behavior effect as having continuous data where you can say okay I drove to see you Andrew from my place in Berkeley and it was stressful it was torrentially raining and I know my glucose was elevated
the idea of C GM's of continuous glucose monitors is really cool you know Peter Peter ideas when Ben Greenfield used one you can see the glucose excursions I did a recent podcast on my podcast with Tommy wood we talked about how the research is now showing that the fasting blood glucose is important your overall glucose is important but they call them the median amplitude glucose excursions meaning the way that your glucose moves after a meal are also very important it's the overall area under the curve of a glue cover the amount of glucose or your blood glucose in a day that is probably most closely linked
This is the wakeup call that if we wear a CGM, if I wear a CGM, if you wear a CGM, if anyone listening to this wears a CGM and sees a higher glycemic variability than they're expecting, say, "Oh, maybe I need to change this because this is not in good indication of metabolic health."
i find it to be such a valuable tool for humans and i think that cgms will be a crux intervention for humans in the future uh in terms of changing health behaviors
i think that cgms will be a crux intervention for humans in the future uh in terms of changing health behaviors i think if everyone had access to a cgm we would see so many behaviors changed in a positive way
I really think that including a CGM in your life will give you a very clear indication of your glucose sensitivity
my dad is going to wear one of these I'm so excited to see how it will help him make behavioral changes real-time feedback of your blood Sugar's I think is going to be a game-changer for behavioral change for people
there's so much information that can be gleaned by knowing your blood sugar 24 hours a day i can't wait for my dad to wear this i really think it's going to help them change behavior
get them a cgm for christmas for their birthday for whatever holiday happens in september for labor day
so can cgm so can real-time feedback
I really think that if everybody had a CGM on every minute of every day in some completely you know fantasy based way where it doesn't hurt it's not doesn't cost anything but they had that data it just drives such a behavioral change and I think that that's why the use of CGM even without a deliberate intervention superimposed improves outcomes
so I get on the plane and I buy the big trail mix because I don't know anything in modern it's got you know it's full of M&Ms and raisins and peanuts and little whatever and I get on the plane and I'm looking at the bag and I'm looking at my glucose and my glucose levels great and I just decide I'm not eating it so I didn't eat it oh my goodness I promise you if I didn't have that CGM I would have eaten it
it absolutely curbs my behavior when I am wearing it which is most of the time I probably 300 to 330 days out of a year I'm wearing it definitely dials my behavior in absolutely
Post-meal glucose spikes in non-diabetics drive long-term cardiometabolic disease independently of HbA1c.
Wearing a continuous glucose monitor leads to personalized dietary improvements that hold up beyond 12 weeks.
Continuous glucose monitors meaningfully change behavior in non-diabetic adults beyond the first month.
CGM use in metabolically healthy adults induces orthorexic-style dietary anxiety without health benefit.
