And what they found is that on the X chromosome, they had inherited a rare mutation in the MAOA gene. So, MAOA is an enzyme that degrades monoamines that, you know, regulate how your neurons are talking to one another. And women have two X chromosomes. So if they inherit a bad version, they're still the other version. Whereas men only have one X. And so from their mom, they got a 50/50 shot. Am I going to get the the mutated version or the nonmutated version?
