there are certainly those who have thrown honey under the bus saying it is equivalent or essentially posting things to the effect that is equivalent to coca-cola like honey is pure sugar well we talked about biases earlier right we know that paul has bias from big honey this is you know what's funny is i actually learned there is something called the national honey board um i am not sponsored by them this is expose it they're noted there are no financial disclosures for money i just happen to think that it's a fascinating food and now that i've eaten bee larva and actual honey from the tree called kanoa from stingless bees and had this pollen and there's video of this on my instagram guys it's amazing i am even more of a honey honey sort of a proponent or at least someone who's very passionate about honey so i found a bunch of studies which i talked about in a controversial thoughts podcast on my podcast which is fundamental health i'll just show one i'll just mention one or two of those we'll put them in the show notes but i found it to be so fascinating there was a head-to-head comparison of honey and dextrose and sucrose the title is actually honey compared with dextrose and sucrose so honey compared with sucrose would be more accurate than comparing honey with dextrose dextrose is a glucose polymer sucrose is going to have a mix of glucose and fructose that's more like what honey is but it was fascinating because in that paper they showed that honey versus sucrose to different things in terms of triglycerides
in patients with hypertriglyceridemia high triglycerides artificial honey that is their sham honey increased triglycerides while honey decreased triglycerides

normal and hyperlipidemic subjects honey compared with dextrose and sucrose caused a lower elevation in plasma glucose and diabetic so something is going on here there are some differences if you really dig into the nuts and bolts of this paper a lot of it probably has to do with glucose polymers versus fructose and glucose polymers and honey but the lowering of crp is fascinating the differential effects on triglycerides are fascinating and some of the changes in insulin
honey does seem to affect certain metabolic parameters in humans differently than the high fructose corn syrup or you know mixtures that are sham honey quote unquote equivalent amounts of glucose and fructose and a sucrose molecule
artificial honey decreased triglycerides excuse me artificial honey increased triglycerides while honey decreased triglycerides
