The amydala is part of what we can call the threat reflex. And this is very important to conceptualize fear as including a reflex. And that reflex involves things like quickening of your heart rate, hypervigilance, uh your attentional systems pop on um increased ability to access uh energy stores for movement and thought and so forth. And the amygdala is part of the threat reflex. So much so that we can really say that it's the final common pathway through which the threat reflex flows. In other words, the amygdala is essential for the threat response.
