Well, it turns out that the amygdala is not just a area for threat. It's an area for generating threat reflexes that integrates lots of different types of information. Information from our memory systems like the hippocampus and from our sensory systems, our eyes, our ears, our nose, our mouth, etc. So, taste information, vision, uh auditory information, touch, etc. flow into the so-called lateral portion of the amydala or the amydaloid complex.
