Due to the significant expansion of seed oils since 1911 and government subsidies of corn/soy for animal feed, we now consume at least 10x the amount of PUFAs.
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.

traditionally if you look at the hunter-gatherer diet and you look at what humans would have eaten evolutionarily the amount of polyunsaturated fat in wild animals is very low it's estimated that treat that evolutionarily in our predecessors we probably had two percent polyunsaturated fatty acid in our diet and that right now we're estimating 10 and 20 for some people of their fat is polyunsaturated
in general I would say all humans should have Pua as less than 3% of energy talked about that in the past that's consistent what we see in Hunter gather populations the hza the UNG Etc less than 3% of their energy comes from puas
Historically, ancestrally polyunsaturated fatty acids were in short supply. We don't have seed oils before a 100 years ago. And nuts are very, very rare, seasonal, and very hard to obtain. And so consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids by indigenous cultures is 1 to 2% max of their calories. Mhm. >> Today we're upwards of 10 to 15%.
