there are interventional studies which show the reverse specifically they show that increasing the amount of fiber in the diet does not improve the microbiota diversity and removal of fiber does not decrease the microbial diversity
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.
Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
removing fiber doesn't decrease the alpha diversity of the gut and there are other interventional papers in which they give people more fruits and vegetables and the alpha diversity doesn't go up either
there are interventional studies i have talked about in the past showing that adding fiber does not increase alpha diversity removing fiber does not decrease alpha diversity and there's another study that i'll show you right now interventional study another study showing adding fiber does not increase alpha diversity
as i will show you there are interventional studies where fiber is increased in someone's diet and there is no change in alpha diversity the gut doesn't get any healthier
When we do interventional studies with fiber, what we find is that giving humans more fiber doesn't change the alpha diversity of the human gut meaning doesn't create more diversity in the gut.
It's just another one to illustrate the fact that plant-based fiber doesn't give you a very diverse gut. And removing fiber doesn't decrease the diversity of your gut.

plant foods have not been shown to do that fiber does not do that
