salt appetite and salt taste is a pretty good guide if you taste something and it feel it tastes really salty to you that's an indication that either it's really salty or your salt stores are kind of tapped off you're okay whereas if you're craving salt and you and you're thinking gosh I really want to put salt on this already salty thing not necessarily but often times that means that you are salt deficient
