They report in across six studies, 14.5 to 27.9 reduction in cortisol in otherwise healthy, but stressed individuals.
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.

Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.

It has a very strong effect on cortisol itself. How strong? The decrease in cortisol noted in humans is 14.5 to 27.9% reduction in otherwise healthy but stressed humans. That's great. Six studies.
The title of the paper is A prospective randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study of safety and efficacy of high concentration of full spectrum extract of ashwagandha root in reducing stress and anxiety in adults.
there are a number of studies now, including several excellent ones in humans, that report that taking two doses of 300 milligrams of ashwagandha per day can, very dramatically, buffer cortisol.
one of the most common ones is ashwagandha it has a very strong effect on cortisol itself how strong the decrease in cortisol noted in humans is 14.5 to 27.9 9% reduction in otherwise healthy but stressed humans
I do take ashwagandha at a dosage of 300 milligrams. I take it of course in the evening and at night.
So if you're going to experiment with ashwagandha as a means to reduce your cortisol levels and you're going to take ashwagandha at the dosages that significantly decrease cortisol levels which would be dosages somewhere between 300 milligrams and it's been explored all the way up to 900 milligrams but typically I would recommend if you're going to explore ashwagandha that you would explore lower dosages somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 milligrams at least to start
in the clinical trials it's normally around 600 milligram dose and you can't fit that into one pill like it's normally sold in 300 milligram pills on Amazon so yeah it's like two pills of 300 milligrams to give 600 milligrams a day total
