I was eating a ton of almonds which was supposed to be very high in magnesium but I can't absorb any of it right because of all the phytic acid and oxalates
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.
Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
you're not going to absorb much of it because of all the oxalates and other phytic acid and i talked about this in my book the carnivore code this has been done with other divalent cations like zinc if you eat them with oxalates and phytic acid you are not absorbing them
we certainly know that phytic acid and oxalates can bind to these anions these cations like magnesium and pull them out of your body
magnesium is a divalent cation meaning it has a plus two positive charge and is also one of these minerals that gets bound up chelated bit into by phytic acid and pulled out of the body
there's phytic acid and there's oxalates which we know are going to prevent the absorption of the Magnesium
magnesium in nuts or leafy greens is often bound up in things like phytic acid or can be bound by oxalates making it very poorly bioavailable
don't think much of that is absorbed because of the anti-nutrients in all of the grains where you're finding this magnesium phytic acid and oxalates
however Fates bind up minerals such as magnesium therefore when we consume things like Oat Bran or legumes then we're not able to digest or absorb the Magnesium because of the Fates
