It is Sex Hormone Binding Globulin. It is the protein that binds up all androgens and estrogen in the body. So the stronger the androgen, the stronger it binds. During puberty, strong androgens, especially DHT which is the strongest bioidentical androgen, has a huge role-- a prominent role in secondary sexual characteristics. And if your SHBG is very high, then your DHT can run higher because it's not metabolized, but there's not quite as much free DHT. So you want to balance between a high enough free DHT and a high enough total DHT.

this is an argument that I've advanced in the past that is probably that ketogenic low carb diets are not great for sex hormones because when you have more shpg you're going to have less free hormones in your body
DHT binds gets bound up with five times higher Affinity than Tess which is like 20 times higher than estrogen
but what often goes overlooked is shbg binds DHT with I believe it's a five times higher Affinity than testosterone might be 10 I think it's five though whatever it is it's much higher
But that hormone, the most androgenic hormone in the body that essentially determines if you fully masculineize or not, where you end up, you know, with a micro penis, that has a much higher binding affinity for SHPG than testosterone does. And then testosterone has a much higher binding affinity for SHPG than estrogen does.
