An animal-based diet centered around animal foods with fruit and honey as a source of healthy carbohydrates is what works best for me.
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.
An animal-based diet centered around animal foods with fruit and honey as a source of healthy carbohydrates is what works best for me.
Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.

it's made a massive difference in sleep mood exercise performance all of these things electrolyte issues are non-existent now
so don't fear fruit i probably am getting 150 to 200 grams of carbohydrates from fruit per day along with the rest of this bounty these nutrient-rich foods on my animal-based diet
eating two to three hundred grams of carbohydrates a day from a mixture of organic fruit and honey has not raised my fasting insulin has not raised my fasting glucose
so I need to uh add some caveats so I'm five nine um and I'm 165 pounds I'm about 10 body fat i serve for two to three hours a day and so I don't think everyone should eat 280 300 grams of carbs a day but my suspicion is that most humans can eat fruit without it being a problem for them and um I think that some fruit and honey are the least toxic source of carbohydrates and they will often help people who are struggling with electrolyte issues and sleep issues when they go too low carb
I eat 280 to 320 grams of carbohydrates a day from fruit and raw honey which I want to talk about but how is it possible that somebody like me can eat that much fruit and honey and this wasn't what I always did I was strict carnivore and keto for a while and I ran into problems I ran into electrolyte issues and sleep issues and hormone issues I added carbohydrates back in the form of what from my perspective at least are the least toxic plant Foods plants probably want us to eat fruit honey is made by bees and those issues for me got better and my insulin sensitivity didn't change at all my A1C actually went down from where it was on a strict carnivore diet
when I started in this way of Education about a carnivore diet I was only eating meat and organs and fat and salt I had issues with ketogenic diet that I've talked about in the past and next week I'm actually going to have Georgie dinkov on the podcast he's a proponent of a repeat type way of thinking so I'm interested to talk to him and talk about where we agree and where some of the ideas of rapey community don't quite add up to me but I think the ideas are fascinating I'm always looking to learn and in line with the ideas of a ray P type approach I learned that carbohydrates were critically important for me so I added fruit and honey back to my diet I wasn't rigid on that I continued to believe that vegetables are not great for humans so I've continued that perspective
my personal story is that while a carnivore diet free of all plant matter improved my Eczema it led to massive electrolyte problems sleep problems and declining hormones for me which improves when I added fruit and honey back
for me I'm 165 pounds and I'm very active which means that in my mind I exercise for more than 12 hours a week because I surf for more than two hours every single day but I eat a lot per day I eat 250 to 300 grams of carbohydrates
I feel better on fruit honey maple syrup lactose from milk Etc and I'll say that as a 5 9 165 pound individual who's pretty active I can easily get 300 grams of carbohydrates a day from milk maple syrup honey fruit fruit juice
just because I might talk about eating 200 300 some days 350 plus grams of carbohydrates a day doesn't mean that everyone needs to do that yeah uh people have mentioned this in the past with regard to my lifestyle but I surf two to three hours a day every day it's just something that I I love it brings me incredible joy and I it it requires a lot of calories um increasing amounts of calories depending on what the waves are doing and how much I'm paddling and how much I'm sort of getting tossed around the waves but that that means that for me I have found that I feel best I sleep best I feel the best in my life overall when I have more carbohydrates
my own carbohydrate intake is like 400 to 450 grams of carbs a day that's because I'm lifting on a regular basis and that's almost all sugar the major starch is whatever I get from bananas or some of the vegetable that I eat like I eat peas some on some days and whatnot so and I've haven't had issues with weight or anything like that if anything I've been relatively lean
consistently for me I come back to feeling like carbohydrates from fruit whether it's fruit juice or honey and milk these are the best sources of carbohydrates that work for me
I'm eating probably close to 300 G of carbohydrates a day personally but then again I'm spending a few hours in the ocean surfing every morning getting on the skate ramp doing a little bit lifting so I'm an active human I have carbohydrates at a high end but I don't fear fruit and I don't fear honey how do I get those carbohydrates I have a lot of raw milk with honey I have fruit juice and that's how I get 300 grams of carbohydrates a day also from coconuts this kind of stuff
I will take you through my blood work and show you why based on this analysis I don't think there's any evidence that eating carbohydrates in my diet in the form of fruit and honey primarily with milk is in any way shape or form harmful for me there's really as I said no evidence for harm in my blood work of any of those things despite the fact that a lot of people in the keto or carnivore space like to claim that there would be there's absolutely no evidence in my blood work and I would argue that this blood work that I have looks better than the blood work that I had when I was strick carnivore
so I have seen on my blood work which I've talked about in the past that there's really no negative consequences to doing more carbohydrates for me and 300 plus grams of carbohydrates a day I feel great
I feel much better without a lot of plants without a lot of vegetables in my diet I do have a lot of fruit in my diet and that's what seems to work best for me
My fasting insulin remains low sometimes lower than it was on Carnivore so I think we should all also be looking at cortisol to DHE ratio and and just using this as a metric if if we trust or we believe that the science is robust and I think it's pretty solid with this ratio
I continue to remain very insulin sensitive very lean very healthy by all Health metrics and I share my labs every six months or so I'm going to do another video soon sharing my blood work and it all looks great I'll tell you foreshadowing it's all basically the same my CRP remains low my testosterone remains High my hemoglobin A1c is far lower than many carnivores with a bunch of fruit and honey in my diet
