We can't find evidence that holds up here. Proponents are reasoning from mechanism or analogy rather than direct human data, and the most credible skeptics raise objections we can't dismiss.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.
Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
but basically there is no evidence of benefit for fiber and colorectal adenoma prevention colorectal adenoma recurrence there is no benefit to a high-fiber supplement or a high-fiber diet and any of those things so it is just crazy that we recommend fiber for all kinds of things whether it's you know whether it's you need fiber to prevent cancer or you need fiber for constipation none of it works so there's no benefit to any of those
and then you look at cancer and the studies with fiber and cancer prevention failed miserably in around 99 2,000 people were trying furiously to show that fiber supplements or high-fiber foods would prevent recurrence of colonic adenoma precancerous lesions no difference
the evidence for fiber as preventive for colon cancer does not exist and that is not a debatable statement if you look at the studies from the New England Journal of Medicine from 99 and 2000 there is no evidence in the medical literature at this point in time that fiber supplementation either from fruits and vegetables or wheat bran fiber supplements changes your rate of recurrence of colonic adenoma or pre cancerous lesions so that idea that that that we need fiber different colon cancer is a fallacy
and there's really no studies that show that fiber intervention improves colon cancer outcomes or recurrence or the surveillance of new precancerous lesions in the colon
but in terms of interventional trials with fiber there just are not real trials which show benefit in terms of cancer in terms of constipation in terms of many outcomes
showing that despite increasing fiber and fruits and vegetables despite increasing fiber in a cereal supplement there was no change in the recurrence or incidence of pre cancerous lesions in the colon called adenoma by colonoscopy
