If someone is having infertility, then I tell them to avoid all saunas empirically. If someone has, if they're not infertile, but they have a low sperm count, I also tell them to avoid.
So if you go into a really hot sauna or a hot bath or a hot tub, in 60 days those sperm are going to be-- a significantly greater portion of them will be dead, will be non-viable.
As I mentioned before, avoid going in hot tubs during the period in which you're trying to conceive children. You should also avoid going in saunas during the period in which you are trying to conceive children.

sperm production is certainly a lot more sensitive you know whether you can sort of thwart the effects of external heat with a cooling pack I think it makes sense there are studies that have looked at different ways to cool the scrotum and have compared you know semen quality before and after and there's some data that may help

Then I removed the ice and motility crashed 57%.

Now, in reviewing the scientific evidence, we saw that there was a potential of the heat actually hurting fertility markers pretty significantly. So, we took precautions to say we're going to put ice on the boys to prevent this harm.
If you don't ice the boys, the sauna will actively hurt your fertility.
The bad news: if you want to use sauna regularly spermatogenesis will not normalize between sessions.
While sitting in the sauna is great for detoxification, it is definitely cooking your huevos and impairing your sperm production.
Many studies clearly show (PMID: 23411620, 18076419, 29731401) that sauna impairs spermatogenesis = horrible for fertility.
And so when you put your testicles into a sauna that's 200 degrees, your testicles want to be about 96 or 97. They don't they don't want to be that warm.
Another thing with sauna that's important to consider is that there's plenty good data that if you go in the sauna as a man, you're going to negatively affect your fertility for up to six weeks >> by cooking your sperm.
There's good evidence that if you're in the sauna, this is affecting your fertility negatively. Decrease sperm count, decrease sperm motility.
which show that when you're heating your testicles, you are decreasing your sperm count and decreasing sperm motility.
I have trouble believing that you can separate spermatogenesis from hormonal health because the cells that make your sperm are the same cells that make your testosterone in your testicles. And what I worry about is if you're negatively affecting spermatogenesis in your testicles, are you negatively affecting your hormones?
